Reviews from our neighbors
Just wanted to send you a big thank you for what you are doing! We just picked up our order yesterday and it looks great. It is bigger than just a freezer full of pork though. It is a reminder good things come from hard times and neighbors won’t let neighbors fail if we can help. Again “Thank You and God Bless You” on this journey of supporting and helping others. Another lesson we all should learn.
Operation Bacon provides a great product at a fair price. We have enjoyed our purchase!
So grateful to Brett and Katie for working with their friends to provide LOCAL pork for us to purchase. With everything that is going on in the world, it was hard to find meat at the grocery store and when we did we weren’t sure exactly where it was coming from. Brett and Katie were wonderful with communication and facilitating the purchase and pick-up of the pork. Benny’s Meat Market was also great and friendly when we picked up the pork. The meat tastes wonderful! I think it’s the best pork I’ve ever tasted!
Covid-19 happened in Minnesota, and all of our grocery stores began to see hoards of people stocking up on the supplies. Then the farmer’s processing plants started shutting down. That news made me really sad. I am a nurse, so I will be working no matter what. But what about all those people who depend on other people to support their families and their businesses?? The internet can be a life-saver. A Facebook page was created for Minnesota farmers! I quickly signed up for a whole hog, ten chickens, and ¼ beef. That is the very least I can do. I have never had fresh meat before – I thought the grocery store was fresh meat! I am a city girl . . . Operation Bacon arranged the hog with the farmer, then the butcher, to my table. I have been in constant contact with Brett during this entire process. The meat was so tender! OMG!!! I will never ever ever buy meat from the grocery store again! Thank You SOOOOO Much!
As a kid, I grew up on a Minnesota farm and enjoyed the best of the meat industry during those growing-up years. Our family raised a few hogs, a few beef cattle, and a few chickens – the basis of creative and delicious meals. We knew where our meat came from – our farm. And it was processed locally by the town meat market and returned to our family packaged and ready to cook. There were no worries about our meat. And we took it for granted. Those times have changed. The small farm operation is now almost non-existent, and we are relying on large meatpacking industries for all our meat products. And I have sometimes wondered about them. Where does the meat come from? How and where is it grown? Are chemicals being used to induce rapid growth? When I go to the supermarket, where has this meat come from. Is it the best choice for my family? These questions have plagued me over the years. And then the pandemic of 2020 hit our community, our country, and our world. Operation Bacon is a new and exciting option in providing quality pork products for Minnesota families. I love knowing where the hogs are grown – by a farmer who truly cares. And it is a beautiful story of how friends stepped up with a vision for future pork needs. This idea of pork from a local farm, to a local processor, to my table, is exciting. And the price is kept very competitive, which is every household’s concern. Operation Bacon may be a new concept, but it is based on what many of us grew up with – knowing where our food products come from. For fresh, chemical-free, pork at a competitive price, you can trust Operation Bacon for your pork needs. Give them a try – and get back to farm-to-table pork, just like the good old days!
